About Me

Hello and welcome! I'm delighted you’ve found your way to my corner of the internet. As a psychologist with a passion for supporting teens and adults, I want to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about the work I do.

A Bit About Me

My name is Kim Rienecker, and I’ve dedicated several decades of my life to the field of psychology. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals, each with their unique stories, challenges, and strengths. My journey in this field has been both rewarding and enlightening, and it continues to inspire me every day.

Why I Focus on Teens and Adults

You might wonder why I’m particularly passionate about working with teens and adults. These important years are a time of significant change and growth, marked by complex life transitions, evolving relationships, and personal development. Whether it’s navigating career challenges, managing stress, or seeking personal growth, teens and adults face a myriad of experiences that can be both fulfilling and daunting.

I believe that every teen and adult has the potential for growth and change, and it’s my goal to provide a supportive space where you can explore these aspects of your life. I’m here to help you make sense of your experiences, set meaningful goals, and develop strategies to enhance your wellbeing.

What You Can Expect

In our sessions together, you can expect a warm and empathetic environment where you are encouraged to share and reflect. My approach is grounded in many years of experience and a commitment to understanding each individual’s unique perspective. I draw from a range of evidenced-based therapeutic techniques and theories, tailoring my approach to fit your specific needs and goals.

My Approach

My work is rooted in the belief that therapy is a collaborative process. I see my role as a guide and a partner in your journey, rather than a distant expert. Together, we’ll explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, working towards a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences.

I’m here to listen without judgement, offer insights, and support you in finding practical solutions to the challenges you face. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, or simply seeking personal growth, I’m committed to walking alongside you every step of the way.

Why Choose Me?

With decades of experience in the field, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a compassionate approach to every session. My extensive background allows me to offer nuanced and effective strategies tailored to your unique situation. I genuinely care about your wellbeing and am dedicated to helping you achieve a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Let’s Connect

If you’re considering therapy and feel that I might be a good fit for you, I invite you to reach out. It’s important to find a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and understood, and I’m here to provide that supportive space. Whether you have questions, want to discuss your needs, or are ready to start your journey, I’m just a phone call or email away.

Warmly,

Kim

Therapies and Treatment Modalities

  1. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): Focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours.

  2. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): A form of CBT that emphasises emotional regulation, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness.

  3. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Focuses on accepting negative thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them, and committing to actions aligned with personal values.

  4. Interpersonal Therapy (IPT): Focuses on improving interpersonal relationships and communication skills to alleviate symptoms of depression and other mental health issues.

  5. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): Concentrates on finding solutions to current problems rather than exploring the origins of those problems.

  6. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT): Combines cognitive therapy with mindfulness strategies to prevent relapse in depression and manage stress.

  7. Family Systems Therapy: Examines and addresses issues within the family system to improve relationships and resolve conflicts.

These therapies can be used individually or in combination, depending on the client’s needs and goals.
